How to use Facebook for Social Media Marketing
Facebook has been one of the hottest topics over the last few years. It has not only rapidly grown as a social networking website but also as a platform for business owners to make their presence felt. Facebook is a social networking website that allows you to connect with others. You are allowed to create a profile for yourself which can be a corporate profile or a personal one.
A personal profile on Facebook allows you to use all features, but a business profile allows you access only to administer your pages and ad campaigns. A business profile limits your access. With a business profile, you are unable to visit pages of users on the website but you can visit pages and ad campaigns related to your profile. You can’t even find business profiles in the search tab. Neither can you send any friend requests. Hence, when it comes to social media marketing, a personal profile is the best option.
Once you create your profile, you can customize and change it according to your needs. You can also change the security settings if you intend to use some important or sensitive information on your profile page. Facebook helps you with this as it provides you with various hints and suggestions which are worth following. Another good thing is that Facebook allows you to import your friends from Yahoo, Gmail, Skype etc. You should add some friends so that people visiting your page find you reliable. Doing this, you have to go through what is posted on your wall and news feed to keep you updated.
Now comes the time to create a business page for yourself. A few simple steps can help you with this.
To do this, go to your 'News Feed' page and select 'Pages' from the menu on the left side of the page. If you can't see that menu option, click on the 'More' button and it should then appear. You should now see a button titled 'Create Page'. Click on that and then follow the simple directions. The team at Facebook has written a number of documents that will help you create your Page.
An important thing why you should create a Page is because it keeps your business and private life separate. Many business owners don't want to share personal information with clients and customers. Hence, its best if you have a separate page for your business activities.
You can now invite your business contacts to like your business page. This way, you can communicate with them on this page. You can add other users as administrators on the business page thus reinforcing the fact that the business page is a separate entity from individual users.
Now there is a good chance that from over 7 billion users of Facebook, you might be able to find some potential customers. The only thing you need to keep in mind is not to try desperately as this is a time consuming process. With patience and efforts, it gives the best results.
