Reasons to delete your Facebook account
Facebook has been controlling the social media sector for some years now. It has been the main social networking website that people have been using for some years now. Not only for personal use but also professional. Many businesses have been promoting their firms, companies and even websites on Facebook. But nevertheless, if you look out, you will be able to find a lot of reasons to delete your Facebook account. Some of them have been mentioned in this article which are as follows :
1) Facebook’s Terms & Conditions are a one-way street - The terms of acceptance on Facebook are completely one-sided. They not only say that Facebook owns your data but also have the authority to cancel your account if you don’t update it regularly. It is quite obvious that Facebook uses it’s customers as unpaid employees for crowd-sourcing ad-targeting data.
2) Facebook has an unethical CEO - There has always been talk about Mark Zuckerberg being unethical in his way. It is also believed that he used Facebook user data to guess email passwords and read personal email in order to discredit his rivals. Facebook even chose to fork over $65M to settle a related lawsuit alleging that Zuckerberg had actually stolen the idea for Facebook.
3) Facebook does not believe in Privacy - With Mark Zuckerberg’s comments last year saying that people have been open to sharing their data with more people on the Internet, it is quite clear that Facebook does not care about people’s privacy and not only wants to own your information but also wants to make it available to other people.
4) Your private data is shared with applications - Whenever you install any application on Facebook, you share your private data. Which means now you're not only trusting Facebook, but the application developers, too, many of whom are too small to worry much about keeping your data secure. And some of whom might be even more ethically challenged than Facebook.
5) Facebook makes it difficult to delete your account - Facebook makes no promises about deleting your data and every application you've used may keep it as well. On top of that, account deletion is incredibly confusing. When you go to your account settings, you're given an option to deactivate your account, which turns out not to be the same thing as deleting it. Deactivating means you can still be tagged in photos and be spammed by Facebook. If you really want to delete your account and not just deactivate it, you have to go through a number of click till you can reach the right link.
6) Google+ arrives - With the all new Google+ and its features like Circles, Hangout etc., most users are now turning their back towards Facebook. Google+ not only allows you to use a number of interesting features but also gives the freedom to share data with people you want.
